This houseplant is nicknamed Firecracker flower (or plant) because the mature seed pods may "explode" when humidity is high or if grown outdoors, due to rainfall. Though unlikely to happen indoors, it may be safer to remove spent flowers.
Product Description
Product Description
For those seeking indoor blooming plants, this Firecracker flower may fill the bill, provided it gets sufficient light. Native to Sri Lanka and India, it grows best with higher humidity - misting or a pebble tray may not be sufficient, so consider investing in a humidifier and possibly grow lights. Given optimal conditions, crossandras may bloom year-round indoors, but beware exploding seed pods! If the humidity is high enough, the pods may pop, sending seeds everywhere. It may be a good practice to deadhead the spent blooms.
