Product Description
While many perennials can be identified by just their foliage, coreopsis, aka tickseed, is a bit tricky, as not all varieties have similar leaves. 'Uptick Red' has narrow pointed green leaves that form a foot tall and wide mound from spring right up until fall freeze. The first blooms to appear in late spring tend to be a solid dark red, but subsequent flowers emerge dark red with yellow tips. Bees and butterflies appreciate this sun-loving perennial but is not a favorite of deer. Cut spent blooms to keep the plant tidy, and fresh flowers are wonderful to cut so they can be enjoyed indoors. Cut back dead stems at the end of the year, or before new shoots emerge in the spring.
