Coreopsis 'Ladybird'

'Ladybird' coreopsis has long narrow leaves that quickly form a low mound in early summer, often covered by the yellow-flecked red flowers that pollinators love. Cut some for mini-bouquets and deadhead to encourage even more flowers throughout the summer and into fall. If there are too many spent blooms to snip individually, give the plant a light shearing after the first flush of flowers, and more will surely follow. Coreopsis prefers full sun but will tolerate some shade, and if planted in the ground, will become drought-tolerant once established. 'Ladybird' tickseed is ideal for container planters and hanging baskets due to its compact size, and does equally well at the front of sunny borders.
