Cordyline 'Southern Splendor'

This Southern Splendor Dracaena Palm is sure to catch one's eye with its intensely colored, strappy leaves, even when placed in a container planter with companion plants. Although it can eventually reach six feet in height, Southern Splendor takes its time, and does well in containers for several seasons. Not quite as winter hardy as some of its cousins, this cordyline may need to be sheltered under the eaves in prolonged freezing weather. Grown primarily for its beautiful foliage, Southern Splendor may actually bloom once it reaches maturity in 15 to 20 years, at which point it may look more like a palm or as one of its common names suggest, a cabbage palm.
