Cordyline australis 'Renegade'

Renegade's dark red to purple strap leaves create a dramatic mound about two to three feet tall and wide, adding a unique color and texture to the garden landscape. Not as hardy as phormiums, varieties such as 'Renegade' may do best in container planters or hanging baskets that can be sheltered during extreme winter weather. That said, the stunning color and form is well worth the extra effort. If our Pacific NW summers continue to rise in temperature, 'Renegade' may have the best coloring with a bit of shade in the late afternoon, but in any case, cordylines appreciate regular watering when the temperatures rise.
