Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Nana Gracilis'

There's something rather magical about this dwarf Hinoki Cypress that is hard to pinpoint. Is it the year-round deep green foliage that curves gracefully into cupped boughs, or is it the dense, awl-shaped needles that form irregular planes? Generally a rounded form when young, 'Nana Gracilis' takes on a more conical shape as it ages, possibly reaching six to eight feet tall and four to six feet wide at maturity. Its slow growth (less than six inches per year) makes it an ideal specimen for container planters or for smaller gardens with limited space. Full sun and regular watering will keep this Hinoki Cypress looking its best, adding grace and elegance to the year-round garden.
