Celosia 'Jewel Box' Crested Mix

Many gardeners opt for summer annuals that create a fabulous display of color, and that often takes the form of exuberant, floriferous plants such as petunias and calibrachoas. There are some lesser known annuals that create a stir of their own, and for different reasons, such as crested, or cockscomb celosias. Try them out with this 'Jewel Box Crested' mix, with colors including deep reds, yellows, purple shades, and white. While some may agree the unusual flowers are reminiscent of cocks' combs, others think the tight, convoluted flowers resemble brains! Forming compact mounds of green foliage less than a foot tall and wide, this celosia is definitely a conversation starter, and worthy of a place on patios and decks where the flowers can be seen up close. Pollinators enjoy the nectar-rich flowers that will bloom from late spring and throughout the summer.

A side note - celosias are actually edible (provided they haven't been treated with insecticides) and unfortunately, deer and rabbits enjoy them!
