Capsicum annuum 'Midnight Fire'

Many gardeners aren't sure what to do for garden color during the transition between high summer and the approach of fall. Ornamental peppers pack quite a punch, and 'Midnight Fire' provides dramatic foliage and intense color to brighten shorter, cooler days. Dark green to almost black foliage forms an attractive mound that contrasts beautifully with dusty miller, ornamental kale or cabbages, and of course, violas, pansies, and chrysanthemums. Combine it with edibles such as lettuce, kale, chives, or sage, and although not considered especially flavorful, the peppers are edible.
