Caladium 'Red Ruffles'

Caladiums definitely lend a tropical feel to indoor and outdoors gardens, and actually require a somewhat tropical environment. For best results, keep them well-watered throughout the growing season (spring and summer) with temps between 65 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit, and humidity around 70 percent. A low-dose fertilizer applied every two weeks in spring and summer will help keep them looking their best. 'Red Ruffles' may put out spathe-shaped flowers during the summer, but frankly, they aren't especially attractive and can be removed. When grown outdoors, treat caladiums as annuals. Consider growing them indoors year-round for their wonderful foliar color.
