Product Description
Product Description
Though all in the same family, Thai basil and sweet basil (think Genovese) have noticeable differences in taste and texture. Thai basil has purple stems and narrower, tougher leaves than those of sweet basil, with a distinct anise/licorice flavor. It holds up well in long cooking and is used to season many SE Asian dishes such as pho or vegetable stir-fries. This variety loves the sun and adapts well to containers. Deer and rabbits tend to avoid it due to the strong odor and flavor. Up to one-third of the plant can be harvested at one time, and the flavor is usually better before the plant sends up flowers.
