Allegedly sweeter than other green basils, this variety also stands out because of its pink flowers, making them an attractive addition to salads, dressings, and even floated in summer beverages.
Product Description
Product Description
African Blue basil became popular a few years ago due in part to its ornamental value, as well as its culinary uses. A sterile, manmade cultivar, 'African Blue' forms an attractive shrub, one to three feet tall and wide, with showy pink flowers on long, purple, wand-like stems, blooming right up until fall freeze. Pollinators love that, but deer and rabbits tend to shun this plant in general. For culinary purposes, the leaves are said to be sweeter than many other green varieties of basil, making them more appealing cooked or fresh.
