'Bridal Veil' astilbe produces clean white plumes of flowers in early to mid-summer, adding light and a bit of motion to shady garden borders and container planters. A recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit, it is prized for its reliability and long-lasting plumes. Flowers have a slightly nodding tip, creating a delicate, airy look. Astilbes, aka False Spirea, purportedly bloom in full shade, but one should adjust expectations if the garden spot gets less than three hours of sunlight per day.
