Aster 'Woods Purple'

Fans of British who-dun-its may be familiar with the term Michelmas, often as a reference to the start of fall, or daisies. Asters ARE michelmas daisies, and 'Woods Purple' asters are a fine example of those late-summer to fall bloomers. Small compared to some other asters, this variety stands 12 to 18 inches tall, and spreads about as wide, providing lively color along sunny borders or in container planters when summer annuals are starting to fade. Asters are prone to powdery mildew, but 'Woods Purple' has improved disease resistance, and does even better when planted in well-draining soil with lots of sun.
