Aquilegia caerulea 'Winky Purple White'

Columbine flowers typically face downward when blooming, so it's hard to enjoy the springtime blooms. The 'Winky' series of columbine puts out upward facing blooms in late spring over a 12-inch mound of mildew-resistant foliage. 'Winky Purple White' has deep purple outer petals and white and purple corollas. More sun means more blooms, but columbine will produce blooms in partial shade. Aquilegia are known for their ability to self-sow, although the subsequent blooms from the new seedlings may not remain consistent with the original plant.
