As the story goes, an orchid grower (presumably Nicolas Diamond?) created this new cross between two ferns, Phlebodium aureum and Pyrrosia lingua, quite by accident. The resulting Phlebosia is an exotic, lush fern that can grow 1-1/2 to 2 feet tall and up to three feet wide, with broad, undulating fronds. Like Phlebodium aureum, aka Rabbit's Foot Fern, it spreads by furry rhizomes. The broad, twisting leaves can be attributed to the Pyrrosia half. As ferns are generally considered pet-friendly, we're assuming that Phlebosia 'Nicolas Diamond' is safe for pets.
