CloseThe peperomia family includes a wide array of plants suitable for indoor gardens. Some have thick, succulent-like leaves while others are heavily textured, with colors ranging from pale green to metallic reds. Most tend to have an upright structure, but some, like 'Ruby Cascade,' are strictly trailing in habit. This particular variety has round leaves that are solid green on top and a purplish-red underneath, attached to red stems that can trail two feet, if not longer. As is true of most peperomias, 'Ruby Cascade' will burn if placed in direct sun, but it grows best in a well-lit room, and prefers higher humidity. This peperomia stays fairly narrow, so to fill out a pot, trim the longer stems and root them in water, or insert a stem end back into the soil (poke a hole to make insertion easier). The long trailing stems of 'Ruby Cascade' may be tempting to chewing pets, so hang this one out of harm's way. It won't hurt your furry friends, but it will suffer greatly if chewed.
