The dark green slit allows light to penetrate the thick rounded leaves, making it easier for this peperomia to produce its food!

CloseAlthough generically named a radiator plant, this peperomia 'Firesparks' is in a class of its own. Small taco-shaped leaves grow densely along an upright stem, usually topping out around eight to ten inches with a narrow profile. Like other peperomias and some senecios with thick, rounded leaves, 'Firesparks' has a dark green slit along the top of the leaf, permitting more sunlight to enter. Similar to a succulent in its needs, this fascinating specimen likes to be on the drier side in a well-lighted room. As most peperomias are pet-friendly, we are assuming this one to be also, but please don't let your pets chew on this one - it's way too cute!
