CloseWhen selecting trailers for summer baskets and container planters, gardeners often have to choose between solid green or solid gold foliage. Loosestrife, a member of the lysimachia family, offers both in its pointed, boldly variegated leaves that will mound two to 10 inches tall and trail up to a foot long. Clusters of buttercup yellow flowers form at the ends of stems throughout the summer for added interest. Hardy down to 0 degrees, 'Waikiki Sunset' will add color and texture to hanging baskets and container planters well into the fall. Deer allegedly do not like this lysimachia but if its the only greenery available, all bets are off!
