The evergreen foliage is often hidden in the spring by the profusion of white flowers. Shearing back lightly after blooming will encourage new growth.

ClosePart of Candytuft's botanical name, "sempervirens," translates roughly to always living, and this reliable low-growing perennial is indeed green year-round. Like most Candytufts, 'Snowflake' blooms best in full sun, but will do well in partial shade. This variety can grow up to three feet wide/long and is a great choice for retaining walls, rock gardens, hillsides, or areas that lean toward the dry side. It's an attractive addition to container planters or hanging baskets as well. Give it a light hair cut after blooming to keep the plant tidy looking, and you may get a second bloom.
