A one-of-a-kind hosta with almost vertical, tubular shaped dark green leaves that are heavily rippled and edged in yellow.

CloseMany gardeners shy away from hostas because slugs tend to put unsightly holes in the large leaves. Varieties with thicker, more prominently veined foliage fare much better in resisting slugs and snails, and 'Praying Hands' is a prime example. The heavily rippled, almost vertical leaves remain unscathed for the most part, creating a vase-shaped mound, 14 to 18 inches tall and 12 to 16 inches wide. A narrow edge of yellow along the leaves only emphasizes the vertical profile of this intriguing variety of hosta. Lavender flowers emerge in summer, beckoning bees and hummingbirds to the shade garden.
