A low growing but wide spreading perennial with silvery purple foliage that looks like a heuchera but does best in shady gardens.

CloseSometimes called Foamy Bells for the spikes of pale pink flowers, 'Plum Cascade' heucherella does what heucheras don't. That is, it trails or cascades over the sides of container planters, hanging baskets, and even retaining walls, up to three feet long. Topping out around nine inches tall, this silvery purple leafed perennial does best with protection from afternoon sun but can handle all-day dappled shade. Though hardy down to -25 degrees, the leaves may be worse for wear in our Pacific NW winters unless given some protection in the nastier months. Spent leaves can be cut back in late winter for a fresh start in the spring.
