Heavily veined, ruffled rose pink flowers stand out against dark stems from late spring to early summer and make excellent cut flowers.

CloseGeum, sometimes known as a Grecian Rose or Avens, is an under-appreciated perennial for the sun garden. 'Tempo Rose' produces ruffled, rose-pink flowers that are reminiscent of old fashioned, single petaled roses, and stand in beautiful contrast against dark stems. This is a fast-growing, early bloomer with flowers appearing in late spring and continuing on into early summer. Cut flowers last well in vases and removing blooms (spent or otherwise) will encourage a second flush of flowers. The gently scalloped, rounded leaves form a compact mound, eight to 20 inches tall and up to a foot wide. Deer and rabbits tend to avoid geum, but butterflies and pollinators will seek them out.
