What better way to add striking color to summer container planters or sunny garden borders than a selection of echinaceas?

CloseAs summer heads toward fall, many gardeners long for one last blast of color before switching to autumn bloomers. Coneflowers provide a wonderful range of bright, warm colors, with 'Sombrero Poco Hot Coral' somewhere in between orange and pink. As is true of most coneflowers, this variety is a reliable perennial, going full tilt from late spring up until freeze, then dying down for the winter. As part of the Poco series, 'Sombrero Hot Coral' falls a bit short of two feet in height, and spreads just as wide. Blooms are long-lasting on the compact mound and also make wonderful cut flowers. Not a favorite of deer, coneflowers do draw lots of bees and butterflies.
