A vase-shaped evergreen fern with new fronds colored with the red and orange shades of sunset, gradually turning olive green.

CloseFerns are an integral part of most shade gardens, and many disappear with the advent of winter cold. Fortunately, this evergreen Sunset Fern has a year-round presence, and during the growing season (spring into summer), new fronds in varying shades of reds and oranges emerge, then gradually turn green. Usually passed over by deer, the Sunset Fern forms a vase shape, growing up to three feet tall and wide over several years. Due to its slow growth, this variety of fern would be a fine addition to container planters or hanging baskets.
