Close'Donard Gold' Monterey Cypress's two-tone foliage has a citrusy fragrance similar to the Wilma cypress, and contrasts beautifully with the cinnamon-colored bark. This variety grows 6 to 12 inches per year, and could live comfortably in a large container for several years before being moved into the ground, but will need to be pruned annually in order to maintain the topiary form. Left to its own devices, 'Donard Gold' could reach 20 to 30 feet tall and eight feet wide.
