Inevitably, when visitors to the nursery first see nemesia, they don't know what it is but they absolutely have to get some. 'Nesia Magenta' nemesia has large (for nemesia), two-lipped, magenta blooms that top a mound of dark green foliage (10 to 14 inches tall, not quite as wide) and is a wonderful companion plant in hanging baskets and container planters, filling out any bare spaces while also strutting its own stuff. Deadheading is not necessary, but removing the spent blooms will keep things tidy. A light pruning in late summer may stimulate another round of flowers up until frost. Nemesia can tolerate the lower temps of early spring and will keep blooming throughout the summer, but it may prefer some shade during the hottest time of day.
