Though not achieving the size blooms of petunias, calibrachoas, aka Million Bells, are a summer time favorite for their range of colors, clean, green foliage, and floriferous nature. Yes, that is a word, meaning bearing many flowers, and happy gardeners will attest to that quality. The Aloha Kona series ramps up the charisma of calibrachoa by producing larger than average blooms in stunning color combinations, usually with a gold or yellow throat and a contrasting color around the eye. 'Aloha Kona Pineapple' has sunny yellow petals with a gold throat and a dark red surrounding the eye. Living up to its nickname of Million Bells, this variety will mound up to 10 inches tall before spreading 12 to 18 inches, with countless blooms from late spring right into the fall. It's a wonderful filler and spiller for container planters and hanging baskets, and will add a punch of color to garden borders. Water and fertilize regularly throughout the growing season, and enjoy the show.
