Rex begonias have long been used as accent greenery in outdoor shade gardens as well as being the stars of indoor container planters. 'T-Rex Stardust' begonia has dramatically colored leaves in varying shades of green, burgundy, and violet, with random spots of cream. Mounding from 12 to 24 inches tall and 18 to 30 inches wide, this rex begonia needs no flowers to catch one's eye, adding color and texture to any planting. Use outdoors in shade gardens along borders or in container planters and hanging baskets. Outdoors, rex begonias will freeze and die in the winter, so consider planting this intriguing specimen in containers that can be brought indoors in late fall. Be aware that begonias are not pet-friendly, so keep out of reach of chewing pets.
