This Asparagus Fern, aka Foxtail Fern, is in fact not a fern. Tail-like plumes of greenery seem feathery but beware, there are sharp spines hidden along the stems. Foxtail Ferns do well in filtered sunlight outdoors in the summer and are beautiful additions to container planters and hanging baskets. Bring the plant indoors when the temps begin to drop, and place it where it will get lots of indirect light. Unlike true ferns, the Foxtail fern doesn't require high humidity, but it does need to be watered when the surface soil is dry.
