The lavender petaled, purple cheeked, orchid-like flowers are exquisite, but those dark flecks lining the throat put this Peruvian lily over the top.

CloseThe Peruvian lily, 'Zaprimu,' has exotic lavender and purple orchid-like flowers with a splash of cream in the throat attracting bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies throughout the summer. The narrow, green, lance-shaped leaves emerge in the spring and form an attractive low-growing mound, about one foot tall and 18 to 24 inches wide. Plant this beauty along borders, in cut-flower gardens, or in container planters that have all day sun, although Peruvian lilies can handle filtered afternoon sun. Cut the flowers to bring indoors; this will also encourage more blooms to grow!
