This Peruvian lily, 'Zaprikatia,' has deep red orchid-like flowers with a splash of cream in the throat attracting bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies throughout the summer. The narrow, green, lance-shaped leaves edged in cream emerge in the spring and form an attractive low-growing mound, about one foot tall and 18 to 24 inches wide. Plant this beauty along borders, in cut-flower gardens, or in container planters that have all day sun, although Peruvian lilies can handle filtered afternoon sun. Cut the flowers to bring indoors; this will also encourage more blooms to grow!
