CloseAlocasias are such striking plants, it takes a highly unique variety to be deemed "unusual." Purple Sword Elephant Ears is such a specimen, sporting unusually narrow but long lustrous leaves with deep purple undersides and wavy edges. Taller than it is wide, expect this plant to grow two feet tall in typical indoor conditions, though it could reach four feet in height with adequate light, higher humidity, and thorough but infrequent watering. 'Purple Sword' alocasia will do well outdoors in the summer shade garden, but must come indoors when the outside temps drop below 60 degrees.
