CloseWe'll be honest, this Evening Scented Phlox needs some protection when the temps dip in the fall and winter, but it's well worth the effort. Forming a mound of slightly sticky green foliage about a foot tall and wide, this surprising perennial is often covered with small deep red buds during the day that open to pure white, fragrant flowers at night. Grow Evening Scented Phlox where its fragrance and delightful blooms can be appreciated, in container planters or hanging baskets on the deck, or along pathways in the garden. Technically evergreen, this unusual South African native may get a bit ragged, so cut back hard after its summer blooms are finished, and move containers to sheltered spots of the garden in the winter.
