CloseHomeowners seeking evergreen foliage for their yards rarely consider yuccas, commonly known as Adam's Needle or Spanish Bayonet. As these names imply, the pointed leaves are broad and sword-like, and in the case of 'Color Guard,' have bright yellow centers with dark green edges. Thin filaments line the leaves, adding another layer of texture to an already intriguing plant. Yuccas withstand heat, cold, coastal conditions, deer/rabbits, and drought, keeping its spectacular good looks throughout. Growing two to three feet tall and wide, 'Color Guard' yucca will send up white flower spikes in the summer, sometimes twice the height of the leaves. Cooler weather brings out pink tones in the golden centers, providing fall and winter color.
