Wheatgrass 'Liquid Sunshine' Seed Pack
|Availability:||In stock (3)|
Most people grow wheatgrass for the purpose of juicing (or as grass for their cats), so the whole cycle from seed to harvest can take about two weeks. Wheatgrass lovers make several suggestions, including the following for best results:
Soak the seeds for a minimum of 10 hours to rehydrate the seeds, then plant. Alternatively, soak seeds for 10 - 12 hours, drain into a sieve or colander, then rinse and drain seeds 3 - 4 more times (10 -12 hour intervals) until seeds begin to sprout.
Plant seeds in flats as densely as possible in a single layer, pressing seeds into pre-watered soil. Place dampened newspaper or unbleached paper over the top of the seeds, and mist that but don't soak. Once the paper begins to lift up, remove.
If you can water the tray from below, all the better for keeping mold off the leaves. The mold is off-putting but apparently harmless.
