The stark contrast of cream and green foliage makes 'Wojo's Gem' periwinkle an eye-catching trailer for container planters and hanging baskets.

ClosePeriwinkle is one of those evergreen perennials that people love or hate, and often for the same reasons. A fast-growing evergreen ground cover, some gardeners love it because it helps control erosion on hillsides and can cover large areas quickly, while others hate it because once it gets established, it's hard to eradicate. We happen to love using periwinkle in container planters and hanging baskets because it is evergreen, trails beautifully, and has cute periwinkle flowers in the spring and into summer. Wojo's Gem, aka Greater Periwinkle or Variegated Periwinkle, has dramatically contrasting cream and green leaves that are larger than those of Vinca minor and thus stand out beautifully when trailing over the sides of containers. Blue flowers are a bonus, attracting bees and other pollinators, but deer tend to avoid it.
