Bronzy hued leaves provide a natural backdrop for perky, blue springtime flowers. A low-maintenance, semi-evergreen ground cover.

CloseSpeedwell or Veronica is one of those ground covers that comes in various guises - some all green, others golden, some with prominent flowers, some valued mostly for the foliage. 'Georgia Blue' speedwell falls into both categories, with dense green foliage tinged with red or bronze in the spring and winter months, and small but spectacular deep blue flowers in the spring. Semi-evergreen in warmer climates, 'Georgia Blue' can be trimmed back after the blooms are finished to maintain a dense habit. Hummingbirds and butterflies will come for the flowers, but deer and rabbits usually avoid it. Speedwell works well in container planters, trailing over the sides, or as a ground cover in borders and under higher growing shrubs.
