CloseNicknamed Wishbone Flower for the wishbone-shaped stamens, Torenia produce snapdragon-like flowers (some people compare them to orchids) from late spring right up until frost. These annuals are invaluable as trailers and fillers in shaded gardens, providing spring and summer color in borders, hanging baskets, and container planters. 'Catalina White Linen' blooms are pure white with a touch of yellow in the throat. Use it as a trailer with tuberous begonias, impatiens, fuchsias, or even coleus. Growing eight to twelve inches tall, torenia will fill in empty spaces while also spilling gracefully over the edge of planters. Allegedly deer resistant, this shade annual attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
