CloseStrawberries are one of those plants that just keep on giving. Plant one 'Sequoia' strawberry plant, and it will send out multiple runners that will ensure larger crops for the following year. This variety produces large red berries that are initially firm, but tend to soften as they mature. Classified as a June-bearing strawberry, 'Sequoia' often continues to produce berries throughout the summer. Plant strawberries in full sun so they'll be at their sweetest when harvested, and be ready to defend berries from slugs. Perhaps the easiest way to foil them is to grow strawberries in container planters, including hanging baskets.
