Close'Sunburst' Patty Pan squash are such a vivid yellow when ready to harvest, they're easy to spot within all the foliage. Scalloped-edged fruits are best when two to four inches across; any bigger, and they get somewhat pithy, like winter squash. Grilled, stuffed, roasted, or stir-fried, these flavorful squash taste similar to zucchini, and have similar growing requirements - lots of sun, regular deep watering, and low-dose fertilizer.
