CloseMost two-toned varieties of hens and chicks tend to have red tips on a green base. Not so 'Jade Rose,' where the reddish hues are found in the middle of the leaf, sandwiched between a green base and green tips. Fine hairs also edge the leaves, making this succulent fun to grow in a container or hanging basket, where you can get up close to see the details. As pretty as 'Jade Rose' is, resist the urge to lavish too much attention on this succulent. Like all hens and chicks, it is drought tolerant once established, and more suffer death by overwatering than not enough.
