Close'Dragon's Blood' Sedum is instantly recognizable with its fleshy red-tinged rosettes in the spring and summer, darkening to a blood red as the temps drop. As is characteristic of stonecrop succulents in the Pacific NW, 'Dragon's Blood' may die back completely as cold weather sets in, but you may also see single red rosettes growing at the ends of naked stems in the dark days of winter. Brilliant red flowers sit atop the fleshy leaves in summer, bringing on bees and butterflies. Growing only three to six inches tall and spreading about a foot wide, 'Dragon's Blood' stonecrop does well as a ground cover in sunny parts of the garden and is drought tolerant once established. Planted in masses on its own or grouped with other succulents in containers and hanging baskets, this sedum adds unique color and texture wherever its planted.
