CloseDark Dragon Stonecrop is the best of both worlds, with red hues similar to Dragon's Blood stonecrop, but with the lush green leaves and spreading power of Sedum tetractinum. In fact, we often get these all confused in the fall because of their similar looks at that time of year. Dark Dragon stonecrop grows a bit taller than its cousins, averaging four to six inches tall and spreading by nodular roots one to two feet wide. The red-edged rosettes are fairly distinctive in spring and summer, and provide a lovely backdrop for the pink summer blooms that bees and other pollinators love. Sun and well-draining soil help this stonecrop thrive, and it does equally well in container planters, hanging baskets, trailing down retaining walls, and rock gardens.
