With all our summer baskets in full bloom at the nursery, the hummingbirds are permanent residents, often buzzing visitors as they walk through "their" territory. A clear favorite of our feathered racers, however, are any of the salvias. 'Salvatore Blue' Sage is a fast-growing perennial with glorious deep blue flower stalks, and are excellent cut flowers. Drought tolerant once established, this salvia works well in rock gardens, borders, mass plantings, and container planters, and attracts bees and butterflies, but not deer. Flower stalks add to the height of this tough perennial, but stays around a foot tall and wide.
