In a tortoise versus hare race, Southern Moon Yedda Hawthorn would be the tortoise - slow and steady wins the race.

CloseWhen searching for broadleaf evergreen plants, gardeners often ask how big a plant will get, but not how long it will take to reach that size. Southern Moon Yedda Hawthorn is a tried and true evergreen that grows well in the Pacific NW; however, it could take years to reach its maximum size of five to six feet tall and six to eight feet wide. The flip side of this slow growth is, Southern Moon can last in year-round container planters or hanging baskets for several years before having to move it out into the garden. Dark green foliage is dense and compact, providing a wonderful backdrop for white springtime blooms. Drought tolerant once established, consider using this Yedda Hawthorn as an informal hedge or foundation plant.
