Shiny heavily lobed leaves look delicate but aren't, as long as you give this beauty enough light, moderate temps, and regular water.

CloseChina Doll is one of those house plants that may surprise you, in both good and not-so-good ways. Most plants you see in the stores (ours included) make one think it's going to be a compact plant, but in reality, this baby can reach four to six feet in height. In its natural habitat, China Doll can easily hit 25 feet. The bad surprise comes when it drops all its leaves, and that may happen if there are sudden changes in temperature, light, or water. If it does drop leaves, cut way back on watering, and make sure the pot isn't standing in water. Another tip - please don't put China Doll near heater vents. It won't like the dry heat and would actually appreciate periodic misting.
