Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Marjorie Channon'

If the Pacific NW had California weather, this Variegated Kohuhu would be happy growing outdoors in a sunny location with good drainage. With the potential to reach eight to 12 feet in height and almost as wide, this pittosporum has a stunning presence with matte-green leaves edged in creamy white, lining black stems, and would make a bold specimen for the garden. Fragrant but inconspicuous flowers bloom in late spring to early summer. Aside from the more moderate coastal weather, Oregon winters are most likely too cold and wet for 'Marjorie Channon' pittosporum to thrive outdoors year-round. This is such a lovely shrub, we think it's worth planting in a container that can be moved under the eaves or into a greenhouse in the winter, or even brought indoors. Be aware, however, that pittosporum is not pet-friendly, so keep out of the mouths of cats or dogs that like to chew on leaves.
