There's a lot of substance to this hosta with its large, textured leaves that vary in color from light green to bright chartreuse, depending upon exposure to the sun.

Product Description

'Sum and Substance' provides a huge presence in the spring and summer garden with its large, tough, brightly colored leaves, standing about three feet tall and spreading five to six feet wide. The rough texture of the leaves are less palatable to slugs than other varieties, though unfortunately, deer tend to like them. Purportedly the largest of hosta varieties available, 'Sum and Substance' will stand out, even when placed at the back of the border, creating a lush backdrop for other shade-loving perennials and annuals. It can certainly be used in container planters for a season or two, but for the full effect, plant this specimen in the ground where it will get morning or all-day dappled sun and regular watering.
