Primroses are one of the first flowering bedding plants to hit the stores at winter's end because they thrive in the cooler days of spring. Gardeners tend to treat them as annuals, tossing them at the end of their blooming season, but don't do that with 'Oakleaf Primrose Yellow Picotee.' This sport emerged about 20 years ago, and has proven to be a hardy perennial, showing off upright stalks of star-like, two-toned flowers above the unusual oak-leaf shaped leaves. Show this primrose off in borders and woodland gardens, or better yet, feature them in container planters on your patio.
