CloseAs is true of all plants, the size and rate of growth are often determined by the environment. This is quite apparent with houseplants, where the lack of light or too dry an environment will cause plants to become spindly, crispy around the edges, and sometimes yellow in color. Philodendron 'Narrow Escape' can grow to three feet tall and wide, but that requires ideal conditions - lots of indirect light, slightly higher humidity than is found in most homes, and deep but infrequent watering. Applications of a low-dose fertilizer may be helpful, but only in the spring and summer. This rather unique philodendron forms an upright vase-shape and is well worth finding its ideal spot in the indoor garden.
